Hampton by Hilton in Babelsberg on Schedule: Concept with Sustainability Factor

Essen, September 2024. Work on the new Hampton by Hilton in Potsdam-Babelsberg is fully on schedule. It is set to open at Easter 2025. Currently, the interior work and the design of the exterior facade of the new hotel highlight directly at the Babelsberg Media City are underway. With its 168 rooms, the concept appeals not only to hotel guests but also to visiting scientists and company employees. In addition, 261 student apartments offer plenty of space for Germany’s film talent of tomorrow. “With the Hampton by Hilton, we are bringing a very versatile hospitality concept to Potsdam-Babelsberg”, says Sascha Konter, Managing Director of the tenant and operating company Signo Hospitality Babelsberg. The gastronomic concept has also now been finalized. Babelsberg restaurateur Ali Chour will operate the hotel restaurant. The culinary offerings will range from steaks to Mediterranean cuisine. In the evening, guests can choose from 200 different cocktails.

Geothermal energy, solar energy, and green roof with rainwater retention

The new Hampton by Hilton in Potsdam-Babelsberg will also show its best side in terms of sustainability. Heating energy for the cold months of the year is obtained from environmentally friendly geothermal energy. To utilize the energy from the earth, 60 boreholes were specially drilled under the hotel complex. Photovoltaics on the hotel roof will provide free electricity from renewable solar energy in the future. To minimize heat radiation in the city, the roof area will also be greened, which additionally provides a rainwater retention effect, important for increasingly frequent heavy rainfall events. “In addition, our high-quality hotel offering allows our guests to reach the Media City quickly, which in turn reduces local CO₂ emissions”, says Konter.
